Dominic is currently the Marjorie and John Brooks Scholar at the Royal Northern College of Music, studying as a bass with Matthew Best, and will be the new bass in the British vocal ensemble VOCES8 come January 2023. He graduated from the University of Manchester with a first-class Bachelor of Music in summer 2022, having been a choral conductor with the University Chorus, under the tutelage of Robert Guy, working closely as well with the University’s Chamber Choirs Ad Solem and The Cosmo Singers to broaden his technical and aural skills and develop as a well-rounded musician. While in Manchester, he joined multiple vocal ensembles, including the RNCM Chamber Choir and Canzonetta choir, and was in the eleventh cohort of the young artist scheme Genesis Sixteen led by Harry Christophers and Eamonn Dougan.
Before moving to Manchester, Dominic sang with the internationally award-winning choir the Bromley Boy Singers, under Travis Baker, working with musicians such as Marin Alsop, Bob Chilcott, Mary King, and Jeremy Jackman, performing in well-known venues across the UK and Europe. Recent projects he has been a part of include: chorus member in Opera Rara's studio recording & concert revival of Mercadante's 'Il proscritto' at the Barbican Centre with Carlo Rizzi; bass soloist in Haydn's Creation with the Crosby Capriol Singers; bass soloist in Tippett's 'A Child of Our Time' with the University of Manchester Symphony Chorus and Robert Guy; Mr Northwind in Dove's 'The Enchanted Pig' as part of the Buxton International Festival’s Platform 3 initiative; and a chorus member in Janáček's The Cunning Little Vixen at the RNCM in the 2020 autumn term.
As well as singing, Dominic plays the saxophone, and in the 2018 winter term also achieved DipLCM through his previous woodwind teacher Paul Simmons. Having achieved Grade 8 Saxophone, Trinity College London awarded him the ‘Exhibition Award’ for receiving one of the highest results in the country. In January 2017, Dominic was accepted onto the ‘Big Band in a Day’ course at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, playing Tenor Saxophone, providing an insight into the world of jazz and contemporary styles.
